Pomegranate season is in full force, and we love a good pomegranate. Today I am sharing the best vanilla pomegranate Margarita. It is the most delicious drink ever, and it’s perfect for the holiday season.
This year I will not be hosting Thanksgiving dinner but if I was, this would be the holiday signature drink. In our home, we are huge fans of pomegranates so this was perfect. The vanilla extract adds a hint of creaminess to the margarita which honestly reminds me of the holidays. You seriously have to try it.
The Best Vanilla Pomegranate Margarita
Ingredients
- Pomegranate juice: I make my own but you can cut a step and buy POM juice. You can find it at any grocery store. To make your own you will need a pomegranate and a muddler. All you need to do is add all of your pomegranate seeds to a glass and with a muddler, squeeze out all the juice.
- Fresh Pomegranate for garnish.
- Salt or sugar: depending on what you like for your rim. I like a sugar rim.
- Tequila: I like to use a tequila Blanco for margaritas. My favorite tequilas at the moment is La Gritona, a woman owned brand that is also made from 100% blue agave. If you prefer to make this a mocktail- this is a popular zero proof tequila.
- Triple Sec
- Grand Marnier
- Simple Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Lime/ Lime Juice
Instructions for The Best Vanilla Pomegranate Margarita
Step 1
Add 1 cup of pomegranate seeds to mixing cup. With a muddler squeeze the juice out, pour it into a separate cup to separate the seeds from the juice, you should have about 4 oz of pomegranate juice. If you don’t have a fresh pomegranate, you can use already made juice.
Step 2
To the mixing cup add ice, 2 oz. of your favorite tequila ( I used teremana), 4 oz. of pomegranate juice, 1/2 oz of lime juice, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, 1 oz. Grand Marnier, 1/2 oz. triple sec, 1/2 oz of simple sugar and shake it for about 10/15 seconds.
Step 3
Take your glass and wet it with a lime wedge and salt or sugar your glass rim.
Step 4
Add ice to your glass, pour in your margarita. Garnish with a handful of fresh pomegranate seeds and a lime wedge.
This recipe doesn’t require much, but this mixology shaker is so nice because it comes with its own measuring shot glass. If you’re not into tequila, not to worry because I will be sharing other delicious mixed drinks!
Other Liquor to use for The Best Vanilla Pomegranate Margarita
I really enjoy a tequila but this past December I had a Mezcalita. basically a mezcal margarita. Mezcal would pair great with pomegranate. A zero proof tequila will work as well if you are pregnant or sober. Ritual is one a very popular brand. I have not personally tried it, but it has great reviews.
